I used Google as my search engine with the keyword search: "austin home prices."
I found two different sites that appeared more reliable, with both sites listing the average price only a few hundred dollars apart. The average price for an Austin-area home for the 2009 year was $185,000 plus change.

I probably would have started at the same place searching where you did. But, I also would check www.realtor.com and then even just the cities Web site.
